Frequently Asked Questions
Considering private nurse advocacy for yourself or someone you love? Here are answers to some of the questions families often have.
-
A private nurse advocate is a registered nurse who works directly with individuals and families to help them better understand, organize and navigate healthcare. Inspired provides personalized nursing guidance, education, advocacy, care navigation and support in the comfort of home.
-
Inspired may be helpful for older adults who want to remain independent at home, individuals managing multiple medications or healthcare providers, people transitioning home after a hospitalization, and families who need experienced nursing guidance while caring for someone they love. Inspired can also provide added support for families who live at a distance or are unable to be present as often as they would like.
-
Each visit is personalized to your needs. Depending on the situation, a visit may include reviewing medications and healthcare information, checking vital signs, discussing current concerns, preparing for upcoming appointments, reviewing discharge instructions, identifying needs in the home and helping organize next steps.
-
Inspired is a private-pay nurse advocacy and care-navigation service. A physician referral is generally not part of the process for engaging an independent advocacy service. Inspired works alongside your existing healthcare team and does not replace your physician or other healthcare providers.
-
Yes. With your permission and appropriate authorization, Inspired can help communicate relevant concerns, questions and healthcare information with designated family members and members of your healthcare team.
-
No. Inspired Nurse Advocacy is a private nurse advocacy and care-navigation service and is not intended to replace physician-directed home health, hospice, emergency medical services or other healthcare services when those services are needed.
-
Inspired is designed as a private-pay service and does not bill Medicare or health insurance directly. Fees and payment expectations will be discussed before services are provided.
-
That depends on your needs. Some clients may benefit from short-term support after a hospitalization or change in health, while others may choose regular nurse check-ins and ongoing advocacy. Together, we'll determine an appropriate level of support.
-
Inspired is an appointment-based service and does not provide emergency or 24-hour medical coverage. For a medical emergency, call 911 or seek emergency medical care. For urgent medical concerns, contact your physician or other appropriate healthcare provider.
